Replacing Teeth in the Upper Jaw with Zygoma Implants

There are some patients who have had the unfortunate experience of losing some or all of their upper teeth.  Initially, the missing teeth can be replaced with bridges or a removable denture. This solution may work for a while but over time, bone loss occurs as a result of tooth loss. In cases where only a few teeth are missing and there is still sufficient bone, conventional dental implants work well to support new teeth.

The upper jaw, however, is different from the lower in that the bone is not as strong. There are also hollow sinuses in the back part of the upper jaw that slowly enlarge over time when upper back teeth are removed. When bone loss is severe, there may be insufficient bone to place standard dental implants. This is where Zygoma Implants can make all the difference.

Zygoma Implants are much longer than standard implants and are specifically designed to engage the cheek bone (Zygoma) from inside your mouth. The cheekbone is much stronger than the bone of the upper jaw (Maxilla) and is able to support upper fixed teeth. This can seem like a miracle for those patients who have been struggling with a loose, ill-fitting upper denture which is the result of severe bone loss.

Zygoma Implants have been thoroughly studied and have been found to be successful in the vast majority of cases. If you have been told that you are ‘not a candidate’ for implants in the upper jaw because of lack of sufficient bone, Zygoma Implants may be right for you. What is it and whom should I see?

Over the past 10 years, the “Teeth-in-a-Day” concept has exploded on the scene around the world. Conceived in Sweden and popularized in Portugal, this treatment has been as close to a miracle as we can get for people suffering from failing teeth. Failing teeth can take the form of decayed, broken, or  multiple missing teeth.  Traditional dentistry teaches that we should keep as many teeth as possible for as long as possible. In some people, however, there comes a time when spending more money trying to save their own teeth, without achieving a beautiful smile and the ability to eat what they want, no longer makes sense.

“Teeth-in-a-Day” allows a patient, in a single surgical procedure, to leave the office with beautiful teeth that are fixed to the jaw with dental implants.  For the right patients, this treatment has been a godsend and results in some of our most happy patients.

Because of the potential benefit for patients, many different types of doctors and companies have marketed this treatment.  But where do you go to decide if “Teeth-in-a-Day” is right for you?  Although this is a straight forward concept, it is a demanding surgical and dental restorative treatment that requires medical management,  coordinated effort, and routine follow up.  Although you can have this treatment performed in a dental office or corporate environment, we believe the best treatment is rendered in a suitable surgical operating room by experienced surgeons and dentists.

If you have questions or do not have a dentist, we would be happy to work with you to put together a team with the goal of excellent, long-term success and appropriate follow up care. As Oral Maxillofacial surgeons, both Dr. Robert Guyette and Dr. Mark Beehner have the unique medical and dental training that makes them experts in the “Teeth-in-a-Day” procedure.  Contact our office or call (480-657-7065) today to schedule a complimentary consultation.

All-on-4 Dental Implants: Get Teeth In A Day

All-on-4 Dental Implants: Get Teeth In A Day, Scottsdale, Avondale, AZ

Has a dentist told you that you’d benefit from dental implants, but the idea of a weeks-long procedure and possibly months of awkward healing isn’t your idea of cutting-edge dentistry? At Guyette Facial & Oral Surgery, we offer the new All-on-4 dental implants where you can get “teeth in a day” that genuinely look, act, and feel like your natural teeth.

Traditional dental implants offer fantastic, often lifelong results, but the initial appointments can be intense. They require the extraction of a tooth that’s damaged beyond repair (if a tooth is still present) and the grafting of a dental post onto the jaw bone. Next, the mouth needs to heal for several weeks while patients are fitted with a temporary replacement tooth. Finally, sometimes months after the first invasive procedure, a second process fits them with their dental implant.

If that sounds like way too many days, weeks, and even months of frustration, you’re not alone. That’s what makes the All-on-4 brand’s teeth in a day approach so groundbreaking.

All for One! (Or All-on-4 as the case may be)

Not every dental, oral, and maxillofacial clinic offers the cutting-edge All-on-4 technology for teeth in a day implants. Actually, it can be pretty tough to find! Many patients at Guyette Facial & Oral Surgery have never heard of the procedure before. Reserved for a full mouth restoration, an average of four implants are usually required in the upper or lower jaw to make you a great candidate for teeth in a day.

All-on-4 is still a relatively invasive and challenging oral surgery. But all dental implants are. However, teeth in a day offers instant results, and you couldn’t be in better hands with Board Certified Dr. Robert Guyette and Dr. Mark Beehner. In virtually one appointment, you’ll walk away with gorgeous, natural-looking teeth that can last up to a lifetime. There’s no waiting between multiple appointments. Patients enjoy instant results that improve appearance, self-confidence and optimize speech and function.

Are you a good candidate for teeth in a day? Schedule a consultation with Dr. Robert Guyette today and find out. Patients must have an adequate amount of bone to qualify.

Guyette Facial & Oral Surgery has two locations in Arizona, including Scottsdale and Avondale, but patients come from around the world to take advantage of teeth in a day. The unique experience, training, and expertise that only a professional with both an MD and DMD can provide is just a phone call away. Full Mouth Reconstruction Procedures

When it comes to enhancing the overall health and appearance of your smile, the best option to consider is a full mouth reconstruction. This will involve the combination of multiple dental care procedures in order to restore and enhance the overall condition of a person’s mouth. When you meet with a Scottsdale oral surgeon and dental health specialist, you will be able to learn more about full mouth reconstructions in greater detail. Right now, we’d like to look at some of the basics of full mouth reconstruction treatment so you understand what to expect and how it can help you.

Custom Comprehensive Dental Treatment

We should note that every full mouth reconstruction is customized to the patient. Since each patient has different needs, we want to make sure that these individual needs are met. If you would like to learn more about how a customized treatment would work, the team at our Arizona facial rejuvenation and oral surgery centers would be more than happy to discuss these matters with you. Below are some basic treatments that can prove helpful to most patients.

Dental Fillings

For cavities (dental caries), the best solution is dental fillings. These will help restore any missing tooth structure and improve overall bite strength of the tooth in the process.

Inlays and Onlays

For tooth decay and tooth damage too severe for a traditional dental filling, the best option to consider is an inlay or an onlay. Inlays and onlays are like larger dental fillings designed for major portions of tooth structure.

Dental Crowns

When inlays and onlays are no longer viable options for addressing tooth decay, the best option to consider is a dental crown. These are caps that fit over the damaged/decayed tooth, improving its strength and protecting it from further damage.

Dental Bridges

When you are missing a few teeth, a great option to consider is a dental bridge. Dental bridges latch onto your remaining teeth adjacent to the tooth gap, allowing you to smile with confidence and eat just as you normally would.

When you are missing many teeth in a row, a dental bridge is no longer a viable option. In such cases, the best treatment to consider is a denture. These are held in place by bracing around remaining gum and jawbone structure.

Dental Implants

For the most secure hold of dental bridges and dentures, it’s important to consider Scottsdale dental implants. Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are surgically placed into a person’s jawbone and gum tissue. They provide a hold that is comparable to natural tooth roots.

Other Options for Aesthetic Enhancement

Having a great smile is not the only option out there for enhancing your overall appearance. In addition to undergoing a full mouth reconstruction, undergoing facial plastic surgery can give you the look that you’ve always wanted. We’d be more than happy to discuss all your options for enhanced aesthetic enhancement in greater detail during your visit to our practice.
