Malformed ears can be the cause of psychological stress and trauma. Consideration should be given to correct this problem when it becomes a concern. Dr. Robert Guyette performs several techniques used to improve the majority of the problems related to protruding ears.
In cases of protruding or underdeveloped ears, ear surgery can truly create remarkable results. Also referred to as, Otoplasty or “pinning” of the ears, cosmetic ear surgery can be performed on children, as early as age 6, once their ears have stopped developing. The procedure, however, is most frequently performed during the teenage years, but adults are also good candidates. Dr. Guyette has the option of either folding the cartilage located on the back of the ear or removing excess cartilage. The procedure typically takes less than 2 hours and is commonly performed in our licensed surgical facility under IV sedation.
Dr. Robert Guyette is a board certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon and dentist helping patients in the greater Phoenix valley.
